Avelair have recently installed a new 18.5 kW variable speed rotary screw air compressor into an Engineering company in Braintree, Essex.  The compressor replaces an existing Avelair fixed speed compressor which will becomes their backup compressor.

After data logging their existing system, it became apparent that the demand was fluctuating between 30 and 94 cfm – an ideal flexible demand for a variable speed compressor where it can reduce off load running costs.  The inverter ramps the motor speed up and down dependant upon demand for air.  It will also narrow the pressure band to + or – 0.1 bar which will also increase energy savings.
