Air receiver inspection

Air receiver inspection

Contact the Team

An air receiver is a vital component in an air compressor system, acting as a storage tank for compressed air. It temporarily holds the compressed air before it is distributed to the various tools or systems that require it.

The combination of corrosion and high air pressures can potentially cause air receivers to explode, if they are not regularly inspected and maintained.

The Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 covers the safety requirements for any receiver above 0.5bar pressure and 250bar litres.

Avelair offer this service throughout the UK in accordance with the PSSR 2000.

Why it’s important to regularly inspect your air receiver

Air receivers should undergo regular inspections, both internal and external, to check for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.

Regularly draining the accumulated condensate from the air receiver helps to maintain its internal condition and prevent the buildup of contaminants. In doing so this will help prevent corrosion and protects downstream equipment. If the condensate is not drained as per the manufacturers’ recommendations internal damage may be caused to the air receiver. Our service engineers are able to carry these inspections for you.
