Energy efficient compressed air solutions

High purity compressed air supplied to UK Chemical Supplier

Avelair have recently manufactured, installed and commissioned a new high purity compressed air system for a leading UK Chemical producer and supplier.  The compressed air is feeding compressed air to their chlorine bagging machinery so had to be dry and oil free.   The Chlorine Release Tablets, when dissolved in potable water, release a stable and accurate solution of free available chlorine, which is predominantly Hypochlorous Acid, so makes them suitable for use in various applications including Hard Surface Disinfection, Emergency Water Purification, Salad Washing, and DEFRA Approved Agricultural Disinfection.

The solution was to install an energy efficient Avelair fixed speed air compressor with cyclonic water separator, feeding into pre filtration, a high purity desiccant dryer with after filtration which achieves high compressed air purity to ISO 8573 class 1.2.1.  Find more information HERE on our new oil free compressed air systems.

Treating compressed air is highly critical as it can cause Health and safety issues, product spoilage, component damage, production downtime, pressure losses due to flow resistance and higher energy consumption.  Some manufacturing plants may only require a small proportion of their air treated to a very high quality e.g. laser cutting or breathing air.  It is recommended in these cases to treat the air at the main plant to the minimum acceptable level and installing the higher quality filtration and drying at point of use.  This will increase efficiency of the system and reduce servicing costs

To ensure full legal compliance, a condensate system was installed to capture any oily condensate and a Written Scheme of Examination has been completed in line with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.
