Avelair Compressed Air Solutions was established in 1993 by Jean and Brian Wood, with a mission to become what we are today – the leading British air compressor manufacturer, dedicated to delivering high-quality products and exceptional aftercare support. Since taking over as Managing Director in 2010, Dave Wood has continued to emphasise this commitment to quality and customer service. Our adherence to stringent standards is confirmed through our ISO 9001 certification, SafeContractor approval, long standing member of the British Compressed Air Society and proud association with the Made in Britain Campaign, ensuring that each product meets the highest quality and safety benchmarks.

Our 10,000 sq. ft. production facility is located in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk where we manufacture a full range of rotary screw air compressors up to 160kW and have a full range of air treatment suitable for all applications.  As we manufacture the compressors here in the UK, we hold all the aftercare parts to provide unrivalled client support.  We have a dedicated team of 8 engineers providing design, pipework and equipment installations, air quality testing, servicing and 24/7 backup support.

Efficiency – Compressed air is commonly known as the fourth utility as it takes considerable electrical power to run systems. It is therefore essential to ensure that the system is regularly audited to ensure it is as efficient as possible. This involves data logging the compressors to understand how they are running – this information offers an insight into whether the compressors are sized and performing correctly and whether there are ways of substantially reducing energy consumption such as reducing air leaks, reducing pressure, connecting pipework systems.  A full analysis from point of use applications, pipework, air treatment, pressure, control systems and technologies need to be considered to ensure optimum efficiency.

Reliability – Planned preventative maintenance with a professional service team is a key requisite to ensure long term plant reliability. Alongside this, environmental aspects need to be considered such as a suitable ambient temperature, weather protection, prevention of dust ingress, and adequate air intake and hot air outlet.

Safety –The Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 is the Regulation in place to help prevent serious injury from the hazards of pressurised compressed air because of the failure of a pressure system or one of its component parts. A Written Scheme of Examination should be completed and planned maintenance performed in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
